Jerolyn Dirks earned a degree in fine arts from the University of California at Los Angeles.  She has lived and painted for more than 20 years on a small farm north of Bozeman, Montana.  For18 years Dirks worked as a watercolorist - with a career in illustration.  She is known for her images created for PetSmart stores, Iams Corporation and The American Humane Association. In 2005 the artist switched to oils and is becoming a dedicated plein-air painter.   Wide vistas and 100-year-old barns provide the backdrop for her work.  "Many of my paintings are about my relationship with this place , says Dirks.  "For me, living on a farm is a serendipitous experience.  I step outside and find myself responding to the simple, everyday interaction of animals, wild and domestic, in their environment.  Often I'll set up my easel to paint one image - and then discover an entirely new scene unfolding."

"My landscape paintings are very personal and a constant challenge.  I'm always absorbed with one main thought - how to capture what it feels like to be here in this spot - with this scene in all its glory."
